Default Featured Images

This week we did some research.

We have a hub site, and we know that not all of our contributors remember (or choose) to use featured images. That said, we want featured images to show up on our feed! How could we set default featured images that would be personalized to each of our contributors?

The solution we found was the Quick Featured Images plug-in. This plug-in lets us set default featured images based on the taxonomy of our choice, and also looks for images in individual posts to use as featured images. We chose the taxonomy “author,” and now each of our contributors can have a custom default featured image for their posts on our hub site!

It does only add the default featured images to future posts, but it also allows you to bulk edit!
